Ed Cohen is a Springfield, MA based freelance photographer who has been photographing in the Pioneer Valley since 1975.
He attended UMass Amherst and received a degree in Communications Studies with a concentration in Communications and Afro-American studies. He currently is taking courses in digital media technology, photography, and graphic arts at Springfield Technical Community college. Ed takes pride in presenting diversity in his imagery in his photography exhibits and photo books.
He has displayed his photography in a number of exhibitions in the Western Mass area and has self-published two photo books, Heroes and Legends: Performance Portraits in Music, Dance, Theater, and the Spoken and Written Word, and James Baldwin’s 60th Birthday Celebration. Ed Cohen also provided all the photography for the book, “Such Sweet Thunder, Views on Black American Music” edited by the late Mark Baszak published in 2003. Ed currently has his work exhibited at the Springfield Museums “Latinos in Springfield. Past and Present” “and the Springfield Central Library” Celebrating James Baldwin.”
